Yoga is an ancient science of body and mind. Yoga practices postures were first recorded about 2500 years ago by a sage called Patangali. His comments and observations formed the basis of what we know today about Yoga.
The most common form of Yoga practice is known as Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical exercises, or "asanas" controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Asanas teach poise, balance, strength and are practiced to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation in the persuit of enlightenment.
